The second annual 'Living the Good Life Festival' in Iluka was a great success with over 2000 people participating in the program of activities and events. It would not have been possible without the generosity of all organisers, musicians, artists, workshop facilitators and other helpers volunteering their time and energy to this grassroots community event. Photos and video footage of this year's festival will be here soon, with some photos now available on facebook. Thanks to everyone who was involved and we invite you to help us put together an even better event next year!

*Robin Francis, Principle of the Permaculture College of Australia, and some of her students will be attending the Living the Good Life festival, contributing to the community workshops.

* Join in our 'flash mob' - learn the moves here.

* We are deeply honored that respected Yaegl elder, Uncle Ron Heron, will be attending the Living the Good Life Festival tomorrow to launch the festival with a 'Welcome to Country'.

* 'Mullet Throwing' gets positive media coverage.

A weekend of celebration, inspiration and information in beautiful Iluka with something for everyone! This year our theme is ‘simple pleasures’; where the best things in life really are free.  Surfing, walking, fishing, singing, kite flying, dancing, bicycle riding, cooking, drawing, gardening…there are so many simple, inexpensive and gentle ways to live well and nurture a vibrant community.  We are all volunteers - if you would like to help, please let us know!

This year's attractions include:
  • Bicycle Ride (Woombah start 8am, Woody Head start 9am) to open the festival.
  • Live Music (Dom Ferry, 4 Way Street, Anja Light, Ulo ,The Easy Escape, the Pillar Villians, Kevin Shanahan, plus much more)
  • Demonstrations/Performances (polka dots modern dance, fire twirling, yoga pilates, zumba, flash mob dance, drumming)
  • Games and Activities (‘mullet’ throwing, nature games and tracking, 'creative art space', face painting, surfing (Sun 18th), kite-flying, sand sculpture)
  • Artists Walk (more info: Kerrie Howland email:< This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it >)
  • Sustainability displays, workshops and information (solar, community building, localisation, community gardens, permaculture, the ‘greenhouse’ sustainability)
  • Stalls (home made crafts, local produce, candles, kites, balloons, alpacas, rowing, environment groups)
  • Healthy/local food and drinks, including the 'Slow Mother Cafe' serving vegetarian food and famous local Woombah coffee
  • ‘Recycled’ fashion parade
  • Sustainable Home Design competition

Iluka, on the banks of the mighty Clarence River in northern NSW, beside the magnificent Bundjalung National Park, with its world heritage rainforest has been chosen as the site to launch this new festival. Our relaxed, slow paced atmosphere provides the perfect backdrop to celebrate a weekend full of inspiration, information and innovation.

A bicycle parade from nearby Woombah to Iluka will open the festival and a day of fun at the beach featuring reknowned local surfers will keep the fun flowing into Sunday. Come along with the kids (bring your bikes!) to enjoy games and activities, information stalls and presentations on renewable energy, permaculture, seed saving and biodiversity. There will also be music and dance performances and workshops along side a wide range of local food choices all based on the theme of sustainability.
